Software and Platforms
Unibill operates a state-of-the-art data center hosting IBM i-Series
eServer hardware platforms. These advanced computing engines can
concurrently run multiple operating systems, including Linux,
Windows, and OS400 applications while simultaneously executing Web
Services and J2EE strategies. In addition, the i-Series eServer
handles full integration with Microsoft's .NET technology and has
the horsepower to support data warehousing - two key aspects of
Unibill's product strategy.
Our primary postpaid business support system resides on a rock-solid
base of OS400 Version 5 Release 3 applications modules that are
ultra-reliable and make use of the latest IBM features, like dynamic
LPAR. On that secure foundation, we have built a robust client layer
of .NET enabled GUi applications that utilize advances in software
engineering such as ActiveX Data Objects, Web Services, and Smart
Client technology.
At the core of this architecture is IBM's DB2 database. DB2
Universal Database (UBD) for iSeries is an advanced, 64-bit
Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) that leverages the
On-Demand features of IBM's eServer iSeries. Single Level Store and
the Object Based Operating System, OS/400, minimize the effort
required to manage the database, while maintaining the
mainframe-like reliability and security. Automation of many of the
common Database Administrator (DBA) tasks required by other RDBMS's
is a cornerstone of DB2, thus raising service quality. And DB2 UDB
provides easy integration with .NET, giving our clients a high
performance web-enabled client layer fronting a secure, stable, and
proven processing environment.
