Service Assurance for IP
Multi-Service Networks

End-to-End Quality of Service
A part of Tektronix' Unified Assurance product suite, Orion provides
visibility into the quality of the services that are being provided
to all of your customers. Orion applications may be used
independently or as a complement to GeoProbe | APM's
network-performance focused capabilities. Orion provides significant
benefits through the following capabilities:
- End-to-end analysis of
correlated media and signaling packets
- Speech quality metrics through
the analysis of RTP packets, RTCP packet monitoring and
end-of-call quality media information
- Monitoring of individual
services per session across all subscriber usage
- User-settable thresholds for the
alarming of signaling and media events
- Proactive notification of
service problems to network personnel
Proactive and Efficient VoIP
Service Management
Orion enables you to perform proactive and efficient management of
revenue generating services and applications delivered to your
customers. By providing end-to-end performance monitoring of
services through the use of KPIs and statistics generated from
actual customer traffic, Orion can provide visibility on the quality
of service delivered to retail and wholesale customers for IP based
voice services.
Orion does this by correlating application, session control and
media packets across all monitored interfaces and all protocols
within your network.
In your network, a significant number of elements, applications and
protocols are involved in delivering IP services to the end user. At
any given time, various minor, major and critical alarms are
present—revealing situations that may or may not affect the quality
of your IP voice services.
In order to effectively manage the quality of IP services quality,
you need visibility to whether events at the network layer are
causing problems with the service delivered to end-users. Orion’s
ability to monitor the service layer allows you to concentrate on
issues affecting revenue generating services.
In addition, the actionable path feature facilitates the process of
detection and localization of the affected network elements for
quick, proactive problem resolution.
Orion provides a comprehensive toolset for IP based service layer
management:
- The Operations application
provides real-time and historical service performance metrics
correlated by node and a guided troubleshooting path for
accelerated problem resolution.
- The Management application
provides an extensive array of reports including transaction
attempts, transaction failures, QoS performance, session
performance and service fault reports.
- The Planning application offers
OLAP-based trending and analysis capabilities.
