Scheduling and Insertion
For VideoDirect Ad
Insertion and Local Origination
A primary function of the VideoDirect system is video playback
scheduling, both for program viewing and ad insertion. A virtually
unlimited number of schedules may be created.
Video Scheduling (Local Origination)
The system scheduler offers very flexible video scheduling for
community access and infomercials. Videos may be scheduled for
one-time playback at a designated date and time, or they may be
scheduled for multiple playbacks according to a play cycle. Common
play cycles to support hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly playback
are easily specified through predefined selections. You can also
define custom play cycles to support irregular playback dates, days
of the week, or times of day.

Ad Insertion
The ad (spot) management system provides an intuitive user interface
to define ad playback schedules. Each ad schedule can contain the
scheduling for a single ad or multiple ads assembled to match
available break times (avails) provided by the networks. Within the
schedule, television networks are selected and their predefined
avails are presented for point-and-click ad insertion. Schedules can
easily be created per client, making for easy auditing and
reconciliation of ad orders. VideoDirect's can also automatically
fill incomplete avails with ads tagged as “auto-fill”, like
cross-channel promos, preferred advertiser ads, or cross-service
promos. With the system's integrated cue-tone receiver, network cue
events are reliably detected and processed for the triggering of
genlocked audio/video switching and ad airing.
