SINGAPORE - Infinio Group
Limited (Infinio or the Group), a major technology and solutions
provider in the new media space, will kick off its latest thrust
into the industry with the appointment of veteran Jeffrey Soong as
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 15 June 2009.
Currently an Executive Director on Infinio's board, Mr Soong's new
role will be to lead the Group in its campaign to establish itself
as the leading new media company in the Asia-Pacific. He is an
internationally recognised expert in technology convergence and its
importance in transforming the broadcasting and entertainment
landscape worldwide. In Asia, he is widely credited as a dedicated
pioneer in efforts to roll out Internet protocol TV (IPTV) systems.
Mr Soong said: "Our expansion plan is on track and I am confident of
taking Infinio to new heights by extending its market reach, carving
out new sources of revenue in the new media industry and thereby
boosting the Group's earnings. My vision is to make Infinio the
leading new media company in Asia."
Mr Soong is currently CEO of Broadband Network Systems Ltd (BNS),
one of the region's top IPTV enablers. The Hong Kong-based firm -
which provides IPTV-based content and technology solutions to major
telecommunication companies such as PCCW and other leading groups
such as Nokia - was acquired by Infinio earlier this year.
Before taking the helm at BNS, Mr Soong headed Vodexa Networks, a US
technology company that boasts major Hollywood studio clients. He
has chalked up more than 20 years of experience in the entertainment
and technology sectors, as well as in international finance, having
held senior management positions at leading firms in these
industries. They include SVP International, a top TV programme
production and distribution company, and CSSV Media Ventures, a
global investment fund that specialises in media properties.
Mr Paul Ng, who is relinquishing his CEO role at Infinio, noted:
"Jeffrey's widely acknowledged expertise and extensive network of
contacts will allow Infinio to pry open the 'infinite opportunities'
that are just waiting to be realised in the new media space.
"That is why he is the best man to lead the charge at this point in
time when the Group is mounting an all-out offensive to advance into
promising new markets and aggressively drive up revenue. With
Jeffrey at the helm, Infinio will soon be well on its way to
achieving its vision of becoming the industry's foremost player in
the region."
In the meantime, Mr Ng will turn his attention to opening up other
potential areas of growth for Infinio. As the Group's Executive
Director, he will pave the way for Infinio's longer-term expansion
by advancing its eventual objective of providing innovative
solutions for e-commerce, e- education and other interactive
applications. In particular, he will focus on developing markets in
China, where he has extensive experience.
