One of Russia's leading public
broadcasters deploys Dalet Enterprise Edition; migrating existing
tape infrastructure to an integrated digital workflow
Amsterdam, The Netherlands - Dalet Digital Media Systems announced
today at the IBC 2008 convention, held in Amsterdam from September
12 - 16, that Channel One (formally ORT) has implemented Dalet
Enterprise Edition; digitalizing their large-scale news operation
with Dalet's enterprise asset management technology. With 95% market
coverage in Russian speaking countries, Channel One is one of the
largest Russian broadcasters employing over 2000 people (800 in
News), covering 6 time zones with 8 thematic channels distributed
over terrestrial and satellite channels. Channel One offers a wide
range of programming; from 24-hour news, to live talk shows, to
magazine programs and feature films. They also have the most widely
viewed news television program in Russia called "Vremya" (Time). The
Dalet Enterprise Edition deployment migrated the massive Channel One
news operation from an in-house developed tape-based system to a
completely digital workflow facilitating integration with EVS
production systems. |

"This is where Dalet excels,
large-scale migrations and custom workflows that enable broadcasters
to achieve digital convergence," comments Stephane Schlayen, Chief
Operating Officer, Dalet SA. "We are very proud to be a key player
in the Channel One transformation; providing them an enterprise
platform that will scale to support the ever growing list of new
delivery channels."
"The Dalet Enterprise Edition system has allowed us to custom design
a workflow incorporating the best of open IT standards and broadcast
production technology," comments Anton Philippov, Director Deputy of
Information Services Channel One. "Equally as important was the
delivery of the system. Dalet's Professional Services and their
business partner OKNO TV team really shined here. Their change
management methodology was key to moving our massive operation from
a cluttered analog process that limited sharing and re-use of
content to a highly efficient digital workflow enabling realtime
collaboration and media sharing."
Dalet Professional Services worked closely with Business Partner
OKNO TV to design a migration plan that digitalized the entire news
production process for Channel One's two news studios. At the core
of the new installation is the DaletPlus media asset management
platform for expertly managing metadata across the editorial
production process. Dalet logging, search tools, planning and
rundown management features are built into DaletPlus and integrate
with the EVS Clean Edit production suite and playout servers for a
seamless digital
workflow from ingest to playout.
