Revenue reached
€25.9bn in the first six months of 2007, a growth of 2% relative to
the same period of 2006. France Telecom reported 837,000 subscribers
to its IPTV services as of June 30, compared to 306,000 subscribers
one year previously. The company also reported nearly 6.6mn DSL
subscribers as of June 30, of which 4.3mn were renting a Livebox
home gateway.
Didier Lombard, CEO of France Telecom, commented that the results
benefited from service innovations which are attracting and
retaining customers and driving revenue growth, such as the rollout
– still in its early stages – of fibre-to-the-home, and the Unik
fixed-mobile convergence service.
The company reported strong growth in emerging markets, such as its
mobile operations in Poland, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Dominican
Republic, Egypt and Jordan among other countries, as one factor
driving sales. Revenues from “mature Western European markets” such
as France, the UK, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands were up
slightly as well. |
