Demonstrates broadest range of video processing for IPTV and HDTV alongside advanced media solutions for new on-demand television services

Southampton, UK -- TANDBERG Television (TAT.OL) is demonstrating a broad range of industry leading solutions for IPTV and Broadband TV at IPTV World Forum (London – 5-7th March – booth #132). The company will show its best-in-class video compression, on-demand and interactive television systems. These award-winning solutions are the fruits of over five years of pioneering IPTV development and are enabling more than 180 IPTV operators around the world to create, manage and deliver innovative television services.

“TANDBERG Television is the recognized leader in IPTV and our focus is to provide our customers with flexibility, choice and best-in-class performance. As the leading provider of IPTV head-ends, we have extensive real-world experience of IPTV deployments and are continually innovating with cutting edge technologies and systems that are focused on meeting the needs of telcos today and in the future,” says Alan Delaney, IPTV business development director at TANDBERG Television. “We are excited to be at IPTV World Forum with the broadest set of solutions designed to enable operators to quickly and efficiently launch revenue generating IPTV services.”

The company’s stand will feature a number of systems and demonstrations including:

Industry’s most complete video processing system for IPTV head-ends:
IPTV World Form is the global launch pad for TANDBERG’s latest telco solution, the iPlex UltraCompression HD and SD IPTV head-end product. This new product is based on TANDBERG Television’s world first, second-generation AVC platform and provides a step change in digital video distribution by combining the broadest choice of density and enhanced features with the industry’s leading picture quality performance. The iPlex Ultracompression HD and SD IPTV head-end delivers bandwidth improvements of up to 50% over previously deployed MPEG-4 AVC units. The iPlex is a flexible video processing platform, rather than just being an encoder chassis, and offers the industry’s most complete IPTV head-end video processing solution that includes MPEG-2 SD encoding, MPEG-4 AVC HD and SD encoding, MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 transcoding, MPEG-2 transrating, and picture-in-picture (PIP) service generation in a high density, NEBS-certified, telco-designed chassis. TANDBERG Television is the recognized leader in video compression and the only player to offer complete solutions for HD and SD MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC and VC-1 and has over 4,000 MPEG-4 AVC HD and SD encoders commercially deployed.

Award-winning content delivery technology for multi-platform distribution:
TANDBERG Television will demonstrate its zBand™ solution which enables service providers to provide high quality content delivery services for movies, games, music and more. The PUSH On-Demand (VOD) content distribution and delivery platform can simultaneously push content to various consumer devices and empower service providers to customize their own content delivery business models. Through the advancement of the TANDBERG zBand content delivery technology, providers can pre-position or “PUSH” movies and other file based content or stream content over IP directly to every screen in the home, including MCE PCs, mobile devices and set-top-boxes that include a hard drive such as the Amino 500 PVR series. By PUSHing or “trickling” newly released movie titles or other content to connected consumer devices for later subscriber playback, service providers reduce bandwidth utilization and gain revenue by offering new video distribution services on their existing networks. zBand provides an alternative solution to network server-based video-on-demand (VOD) and gives customers an added incentive to upgrade services with instant access to the latest HD and DVD-quality video releases.

Complete solutions for TV 2.0
Visitors will also be able to see TANDBERG’s open software solutions for next generation digital video services. These advanced software tools pull on over 15 years of digital TV experience to address a growing need to support different distribution paths, end points and content formats. They extend TANDBERG Television’s ability to enable linear and on-demand, interactive content to be supplied across ‘any platform to any device’.

TANDBERG Television’s broadband TV system, based on its zTools software, will be on show. These publishing and management applications remove road blocks inherent in monetizing and syndicating video over the Internet and simplify the process of creating multi-platform portals, so content providers can reach the maximum number of viewers. With award-winning products such as MediaModeler™, TANDBERG Television is able to automate the formatting, management, programming and publishing of interactive and on-demand Internet video with a focus on ease-of-use.

Moreover, TANDBERG Television’s new WatchPoint Workflow System provides a scalable, automated solution that streamlines the creation, management and distribution of media assets based on an extensible, open architecture. WatchPoint’s fully customizable, open architecture offers an unlimited array of installation options, adapting to and streamlining customers’ current processes while leveraging their existing hardware and software investments. With support for both linear and on-demand media, as well as interactive content and applications, WatchPoint Workflow System enables content providers and platform operators to provide a compelling offering for today’s on-the-go, media-savvy consumers. WatchPoint also drives new revenue opportunities through the delivery of dynamic, targeted, and interactive advertisements.

In addition, a number of TANDBERG’s senior experts will be taking part in the conference next week:
