Datmedia’s datpresenter™ delivers a new look and streaming services for IBC TV News

Other Topics: 3G Streaming Software, IPTV 2010

Datmedia
August 24, 2006

Datmedia (IBC stand 1.154 www.datmedia.com) – a world leading developer of IPTV and online presentation technology – delivers a brand new look and extra mobile services to IBC TV News (www.ibctvnews.com) during IBC 2006, 8-12th September 2006.

Added mobile features will add fresh appeal to delegates from IPTV industry who tune in to IBC TV News for its breaking news and up-to-the-minute daily news packages over the course of the world-leading IPTV conference and exhibition in Amsterdam.

Datmedia’s datpresenter™ DPX V2.0 software (www.datpresenter.com) will stream selected news stories in 3GPP and MPEG4 formats to 3G cell phones as well as via the internet. It is one of the most technically advanced browser-based, install-free rich media players on the market and has been customised to suit the requirements of the IBC TV News site.

The site’s user-friendly navigation allows viewers to search IBC news clips by category, day, year or keyword, and play audio-video clips using Real Player or Windows Media Player. This year, there is an additional selection of links to the main sections of IBC, including mobile clips, podcasts and which channels delegates can tune in to from their hotel room. Its features include a facility to view full screen video, download or view accompanying rich media files and documents. The design and colour scheme of the new player skin compliments the look and feel of the 2006 search catalogue as well as the main IBC TV News web site.

It is the third year that Datmedia and partners Digital Rapids (www.digital-rapids.com) have been chosen to deliver streaming services to IBC TV News. A complete archive of last year’s stories is available as well as the latest news as it happens at IBC 2006. The software’s XHTML-based administration tools have drastically cut production time for both video stream and supporting timeline media. Stories will be fed live via SDI from the IBC TV News edit suites, and encoded in real time to Windows and Real media formats by Digital Rapids. Digital Rapids’ StreamZ encoding system will then automatically transfer the files to Datmedia’s servers for hosting.

Stephen Clee, Managing Director of Datmedia, said: “datpresenter™ software has been used very successfully for previous years’ IBC TV News and delegates are again ensured a high-quality experience. Online viewers need only a standard PC with a desktop browser and internet connection to view this year’s events and last year’s archives.”
