Live Demonstration of Cost-Effective S-ROADM Capability

Denver, CO -- OpVista, Inc., the company delivering Next Generation intelligent optical networks featuring cost-effective reconfigurability, high capacity, and instant 2.5G to 10G capacity upgrades, announced that the company will demonstrate its SROADM-enabled broadcast and select architecture at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Denver, Colo. June 21-23.

In the live demonstration, OpVista will feature its single wavelength scalable, reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing (S-ROADM) capability for both its Ultra-DWDM as well as DWDM systems. For cable operators, the S-ROADM offers cost-effective option to upgrading existing infrastructure, without costly network re-engineering and upgrades.

“Our live demonstration showcases the true flexibility of the OpVista2000. We offer a wide variety of tools that can be used to develop customized solutions to operator’s problems,” said Karl May, OpVista’s CEO and President.

OpVista recently announced its ROADM Interface Card (RIC), which extends OpVista’s single wavelength reconfigurability to existing and legacy DWDM systems. The RIC enables operators the unprecedented opportunity to increase functionality and reduce operational expense, without increasing capital expenditure. By providing broadcast and select capability to existing installed fixed optical add/drop networks, the RIC can easily and cost-effectively enable video delivery over operator’s existing infrastructure.

The OpVista2000 demo to be featured at Cable-Tec Expo incorporates multiple video-on-demand signals transmitted through an Ethernet switch, transported across fiber on an OpVista2000 shelf. The demo also shows the latest additional to the portfolio, a fully tunable 10GbE transponder, augmenting the 10G/10GbE U-DWDM capability.
