Los Gatos, CA -- Coaxsys Incorporated, makers of the #1
deployed IPTV network, today announced its relationship with Hargray
Communications, the 22nd largest telco in the U.S. Hargray, with
nearly 100,000 customers surrounding Hilton Head, South Carolina, will
be using Coaxsys' TVnet to instantly deploy high-speed IP networks in
customers' homes without having to rewire with Cat-5 cable.
Hargray is deploying Coaxsys' IPTV 7000, which utilizes TVnet
technology, to offer IPTV over existing in-home coaxial cable. The
network enables telcos to offer IPTV to multiple rooms throughout its
customers' homes without having to spend the time and money to string
Cat-5 Ethernet cable. TVnet's low cost and simple plug-and-play
installation enable telcos to utilize preexisting wires, dramatically
reduce installation time, and deploy IPTV more rapidly. This not only
allows them to meet customers' demand for reliability and simplicity,
but it also saves the telco a considerable amount of money on
installation. |

Hargray Communications currently offers a full suite of voice, video,
and data services -- including telephone, high speed broadband, IP
video, web hosting and consulting, cable television, and network
services -- to nearly 100,000 South Carolina customers. The company
has already been offering numerous IP services, such as broadband
access and voice over IP; now, with an easy-to-deploy IP network,
Hargray will be able to rapidly expand its IP video offerings. The
company has selected Coaxsys' IPTV 7000 adapters because they enable a
more rapid IPTV deployment without incurring the exceptional upfront
cost of rewiring -- an investment permanently stranded at the
subscriber's home.
"We take pride in being able to offer our customers a full range of
voice, video, and data services," said Hargray Plant Manager, Pat
Holloway. "IP-based services are becoming an increasingly important
piece of our business. However, the infeasibility of spending the time
and money to rewire every home with Cat-5 has slowed the deployment of
some services. Coaxsys' TVnet allows us to proceed full-steam-ahead:
Their network is high-speed and easy to install, and we are confident
that it will enable us to offer our customers better services in a
more timely fashion."
Coaxsys VP of Sales, Gregory Boe, noted that Hargray's utilization of
TVnet will help both companies meet their goals: "This is a natural
fit for us both. We are proud to have Hargray as a customer; with
their large customer base and commitment to IP deployment, we are
excited about the future of our relationship. And by adopting TVnet,
Hargray will be able to more rapidly offer a full spectrum of services
to its customers."
Coaxsys' TVnet adapters are the only viable IPTV network alternative
to rewiring homes with Cat-5 Ethernet. Once connected to the video or
broadband source, TVnet transforms the entire home's coaxial cable
into a series of network-enabled coax jacks. TVnet adapters can then
be connected to any network-enabled device in order to provide
Internet access, share peripherals, or stream high quality, digital
audio and video (including multi-channel and HDTV). The IPTV 7000,
deployed by Hargray, delivers 70Mbps minimum sustained throughput over
any topology of coax, inclusive of splitters.
About Coaxsys

line of TVnet products enables telcos, cable operators, and satellite

the home. TVnet transforms coax receptacles into a high performance
multimedia network, creating new applications for digital
communications and entertainment -- without having to hardwire Cat 5
cable throughout the home. Coaxsys also licenses its TVnet technology
to partners, such as set-top box and semiconductor companies, that
