Proven security, flexibility and scalability cited by Eagle as
key reasons to secure planned 150,000 video subscribers across the
U.S.
Belfast, Northern Ireland -- Latens Systems, the leading provider of
IPTV Conditional Access (CA), today announced that Eagle Broadband,
Inc. (AMEX:EAG), a national provider of broadband, Internet Protocol
(IP) and communications technology and services for the United
States of America, has selected the Latens IP CAS Conditional Access
solution to secure its advanced IPTV services. Eagle, a pioneer for
IPTV and IP-based Set-Top Boxes (STBs) within the U.S., will offer
its subscribers more than 200 channels of secured video services
that include Pay-TV, high-definition (HD), personal-video-recording
(PVR), video-on-demand (VOD) and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD). |

Eagle selected Latens
IP CAS after months of thorough assessment of all IPTV conditional
access technologies available in the market today. The IP CAS’
ability to adapt to the most robust network architectures and Latens’
proactive approach to security were cited as key reasons for the
selection. The executives at Eagle also cited Latens’ IP CAS’s
adaptability when integrating with their Linux-based STBs.
“Our customers demand the best and latest video content available in
the market today,” said Brian Morrow, COO of Eagle Broadband. “And
our content providers demand a robust CAS solution. We found that
Latens’ solution offered the best option in the IPTV CAS market
today, and that its encryption architecture could adapt easily to
our Eagle engineered STBs."
“Eagle challenged us to prove that our solution can adapt and scale
to their robust network architecture within certain market-driven
cost constraints. We are pleased to have been chosen over our
competitors,” said Dean Kashlan, GM and VP of Latens. "Eagle
Broadband will be able to encrypt all content at their super
head-end in Miami. The signal will remain 100% encrypted throughout
the network, and only be decrypted at their Linux-based STBs
wherever they may be in the U.S. The Latens IP CAS is especially
well designed to accommodate Eagle’s high volume of IPTV
subscribers.”
