DVR Platform for IPTV

Pace Develops DVR Platform Based on CableLabs®' OCAP DVR Spec

Pace Micro Technology
June 14, 2006

To Be Demonstrated at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo

Pace Platform Ensures Operators are Ready for OCAP Transition

Boca Raton, FL -- Pace Micro Technology, a leading digital set-top box provider specializing in the development of emerging technologies across all television platforms, today announced it has developed a DVR based upon CableLabs' OpenCable™ Applications Platform (OCAP™) Digital Video Recorder (DVR) Spec 0C-SP-OCAP-I02, which will be demonstrated at the upcoming Society of Cable Television Engineers (SCTE) Cable-Tec Expo in Denver, June 21-23, at Exhibit #1372.

The OCAP DVR specification will be used in all current and future OCAP DVR set-top boxes from Pace, starting with the Pace flagship dual-tuner, high-definition Tahoe TDC775 HD-DVR.

Pace has partnered with Alticast, who is a global leader in OCAP with the world's first OCAP deployment in Korea. This partnership has spawned a co-development effort in which Pace has integrated Alticast's OCAP middleware solution, AltiCaptor OCAP 1.0, into the Pace cable set-top box product line.

Over the past several months, Pace has participated in numerous CableLabs' multi-vendor interoperability testing events, including one this month during which Pace brought its products to test with DVR-enabled EPGs, DOCSIS® 2.0 Advanced DSG signalling, and numerous other OCAP applications that are under development.

Pace Americas' Vice President of Technology Chris Dinallo commented, "Pace and Alticast have tracked the CableLabs' specifications to a 'T' by implementing all the specifications and engineering change notices (ECNs) to date, which marks a major milestone. In addition, we uniquely designed our OCAP platform to function on different head-end configurations, and in a manner that saves MSOs capital expense, time, and risk."

"We are on track to have a leading high-definition DVR OCAP-based platform ready for operators to make the transition to OCAP," he added.
