June 5, 2006

Indianapolis, IN -- IndyCar Series® Racing and WhiteBlox set a new record for the Indianapolis 500 this year, drawing thousands of online viewers with live broadcasting through seven cameras simultaneously during their Internet coverage on the Indyracing.com and Indy500.com websites. WhiteBlox, a leader in Internet television technology, teamed up with IndyCar Racing to provide racing fans with additional ways to keep track of their favorite drivers during the Indy 500.

This year's race was broadcast live to viewer's televisions and their computers. The web distribution to the home computer was designed to enhance the coverage provided by The 500's broadcasting partners. The online program offered multiple camera angles and community participation functions, taking advantage of WhiteBlox's revolutionary IP broadcasting technology. Home viewers instantly chose between seven In-Car Cameras, all of which were being broadcast live simultaneously - a first in online broadcasting. The Indy 500 IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) site also enabled viewers to access fan polls, live user chats and interactive commercials.

"Fans of IndyCar Series® Racing are some of the most educated fans in the world," said Fred Nation, VP Communications for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "They know the racers, the cars and the track as well as most of the teams out there. With the technology available we wanted to give them not only bonus coverage of their favorite drivers, but also a new forum through which to interact with other fans across the globe in real-time."

"The Indy 500 is one of the most popular sporting events in the world and WhiteBlox is proud to bring it to viewers in a new way that deepens their experience and connection with the race," said WhiteBlox CEO, Greg Demetriades. "The incredible number of online viewers that tuned in for this broadcast shows just how powerful a tool the Internet has become and outlines the future of online entertainment. It perfectly complements programmers' broadcast strategy."

WhiteBlox has been airing events leading up to the main race since May 7th including: covering time trials, practice runs, interviews and other race-related activities. Racing enthusiasts everywhere were revved up about the Internet broadcasts, with thousands of viewers logging more than 1,264,230 viewer minutes total. Every state in the US had viewers online and 88 countries internationally.
