September 13, 2009

Geneva, Switzerland -- Advanced Digital Broadcast, a leading supplier of technology to the global digital television industry, announced today that it signed an agreement to supply two advanced IPTV devices, which will enable Altibox (www.altibox.no) to offer its customers an HD IPTV service with PVR functionality. The ADB-2810W set-top box and the ADB-5812WX digital video recorder also offer new levels of content security and memory.

“We chose ADB to supply our new IPTV consumer premise equipment for a number of reasons: the company is a leader in the IPTV space across Europe, and has a good track record in the Nordic region.” says Jarle Johnsen Head of Engineering TV/Media at Altibox. “It also has an innovative approach to delivering new and compelling functionalities such as the ability to view DivX content, multi-room content convergence, and enhanced 3D graphical user interfaces.

“Our customers will benefit from improved functionality, an enhanced TV experience, and interactive services that run faster than they do on some conventional internet browsers. The new devices will also give us a platform for launching future interactive services to meet consumers’ changing tastes.”

François Pogodalla, CEO of ADB commented “We are delighted to partner with Altibox and are convinced that its customers will benefit from our many years of experience in developing new and exciting technology that enhances consumers’ TV viewing experience. This supply agreement reinforces our presence in the Northern European IPTV market, and is yet another illustration of our commitment to the IPTV industry”.

ADB has led the hybrid set-top box market in Europe since the company was founded in 1995. It has established itself as a trusted partner for operators looking to launch new and advanced revenue-generating IPTV services to consumers. ADB will deliver the following products to Lyse:
  • The ADB-5812WX: an advanced HD IPTV digital video recorder (DVR) with home networking functionalities. The unit supports most deployed video standards, including MPEG-4 HD/SD, WMV9 and XviD. It offers a 3D user interface, UPnP/DLNA-based home networking, and supports Windows Media Connect.
  • The ADB-2810W: an entry-level HD IPTV set-top specially designed for operators looking for cost efficiency without compromising on the features. The product is also enabled for a home networked environment.
