Called The New Last Mile, it uses
an Internet based platform to deliver its TV programming. All the
viewer needs is a broadband connection, either fiber or Wi-Fi, to
the Internet to tap into the Digital Utilities Network. Then, acting
as a virtual cable company, it piggybacks on the existing broadband
connection to stream live programs of broadcast quality from
anywhere in the world over the Internet directly to TV audiences and
Cell Phone subscribers without having to build out proprietary fiber
optic lines to homes...and it can do this using under 1 megabit of
the Internet as the backbone to the television set or cell phone.
"This new network technology is a scaleable, server-based system
that can be integrated into a wireless or wireline environment, said
Digital Utilities' President, Garry McHenry. "The advantages to
telecoms and cable operators are significant:
-
They can
dramatically increase their customer reach by
eliminating the requirement of a total network build
out, including a last mile link to the consumer,
while
-
Improving
profitability and customer retention by offering
subscribers a full range of digital communications
services coupled with unlimited content access."
The IPTV World Forum - The Company successfully demonstrated its
technology at the IPTV World Forum in March of 2008 in London and is
in discussions with leading communications companies such as
SingTel, Asia's largest communications group with operations and
investments in more than 20 countries and territories around the
world. SingTel recently submitted its bid to the government of
Singapore to design, build and operate the active infrastructure of
Singapore's Next Generation National Broadband Network.
