High Quality Broadcast Video

T-VIPS Named as Red Herring 100 Europe Winner

T-VIPS AS
April 9, 2009

Award recognises T-VIPS’ expertise and innovation within the technology industry

Oslo, Norway -- T-VIPS AS, a global leader in professional video management and distribution, with advanced solutions for the contribution & distribution of broadcast quality video signals, today announced it has been selected as a winner in the Red Herring 100 Europe, an annual award given to the top 100 private technology companies based in the EMEA region. The award recognises T-VIPS’ innovation in the transport of high quality broadcast video, making it easier and more cost-effective for its customers to deliver next-generation television.

“We are delighted to be named as a winner in the Red Herring 100 Europe and are all proud that the pioneering nature of our solutions has been honoured by the Red Herring editors,” said Jonny Dolvik, CEO, T-VIPS. “This award is recognition of T-VIPS’ growth and development within the broadcast technology industry, as well as further proof of the traction that the JPEG2000 codec is receiving as the ideal solution for video contribution over IP based networks – something we have championed from our early days. As we progress and grow together as a company, we aim to continue to make the first moves and find new areas that we can enter with groundbreaking solutions, as well as develop 2nd generation products ahead of our competitors.”

Red Herring’s lists of top private companies are an important part of the publication’s tradition of identifying new and innovative technology companies and entrepreneurs. Companies like Google, eBay, and Skype were spotted in their early days by Red Herring editors, and touted as leaders that would change the way we live and work.

“During a difficult year, Red Herring still received an impressive list of submissions from companies across the EMEA region, clearly demonstrating Europe’s role as a major center of innovation in the global technology sector,” said Farley Duvall, Managing Director, Red Herring. “The exceptional accomplishments of European technology startups and entrepreneurs are a testament to the rapid advancements being made in building the European innovation ecosystem.”

T-VIPS was founded in 2004 by a group of engineers and senior managers who have in-depth knowledge and experience from the broadcast and telecommunications industry. The team has a solid reputation for providing broadcasters and network operators with innovative solutions designed with the reliability required to offer world-class TV services. From analogue to digital transition, and ATM to IP, the T-VIPS team has continually been at the cutting edge of TV development over the last 15 years.. T-VIPS’ industry firsts include being the first technology provider to launch and deploy professional video transport solutions based upon the JPEG2000 codec, as well as being the first to provide products designed solely to optimize the localization of DTT services.

Note to editors: T-VIPS will be demonstrating its full range of video transport solutions at NAB 2009: Las Vegas, April 20-23, 2009, booth SU1219.
