"It's an honor to be able to have
the Merrie Monarch Festival as a part of Hawaii IPTV. This event
showcases Hawaii at its finest and is so rich in history and
culture. I'm thrilled to be given the opportunity to share it with
our customers around the world," stated Kimberly Dey, Vice President
of Hawaii IPTV. Named after King David Kalakaua, the Merrie Monarch
Festival celebrates the reintroduction of hula and traditional
Hawaiian songs and chants that had previously been prohibited by
early missionary settlers. Now owned by a domestic non-profit
organization registered with the State of Hawaii Department of
Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the annual presentation includes art
exhibits, craft fairs, demonstrations, performances, a parade and a
three-day hula competition that has received worldwide recognition
for its historic and cultural significance. Since its conception,
the Merrie Monarch Festival has always been committed to
perpetuating the traditional culture of the Hawaiian people and
showcasing the most elite dancers of Hula today. It is considered
the world's premier forum for people of all ages to display their
skill and knowledge of ancient and modern hula. "This is an event
that our customers have looked forward to enjoying since we first
launched our service. It is considered the super bowl of Hula and
Hawaiian culture. When we talk about viewing the best TV from Hawaii
our customers always mention the Merrie Monarch Festival," said Dey.
