Hanaro Telecom selects Witbe monitoring solution for IPTV rollout in Korea

July 7, 2008

Paris, France -- Witbe and its Korean integrator Tricomtek have been selected by Hanaro Telecom to provide a video quality monitoring platform for their new HD IPTV services.

After the government’s authorization allowing local operators to broadcast television content in October 2006, Hanaro planned to launch a video service for Korean market and required a service monitoring platform to ensure quality prior to launch.

Hanaro already has a pre-IPTV service based on VoD download. With the launch of a full HD service, Witbe robots provide three essential functions:
  • Evaluating Set-Top Box models and manufacturers by measuring the quality and stability of the device, including the Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF)
  • Verifying the quality of Hana TV in terms of zapping time and video and audio quality on a 24x7 basis
  • Controling the network quality based on ETSI TR 101.290 MPEG-2 TS metrics.
Hanaro is now using Witbe HD robot in their labotary for pre-deployment.

The combination of Witbe’s technology and local know-how ensures customer satisfaction for the carrier. With the local support of our partner Tricomtek, we can deliver a dedicated solution fully adapted to Korean market under three months,” said Arman Aygen, Business Development Manager of Witbe.
