Oslo, Norway –- T-VIPS AS, a Norwegian technology company that
designs, builds and supplies world-leading solutions for the
contribution & distribution of broadcast quality video signals,
today announced that visitors to its stand at CommunicAsia (6D4-01)
in Singapore, 17-20 June 2008, will be able to view a live

T-VIPS will demonstrate the high quality video transport
capabilities of JPEG2000 with a live link between the T-VIPS stand
(6D4-01) and the NeraTel stand (5G3-01) – T-VIPS’ business partner
in Singapore. JPEG2000 compressed HD material will run on an
Ethernet link between the stands using a TVG430 Video Gateway at
both ends. This live demonstration will display the superior quality
of JPEG2000 HD video contribution over more traditional transport
methods.
T-VIPS pioneered JPEG2000-based video distribution, being the first
to launch, market and deploy video transport solutions based on this
codec. The T-VIPS TVG430 utilizes advanced Forward Error Correction
(FEC) technology, which ensures that the company’s JPEG2000
solutions are capable of reliably distributing high-quality HD and
SD video over IP and ASI networks. The product allows network
operators to build revenue-generating professional Wide Area
Networks for the video industry. New features for the TVG430
include:
•MPEG-2 ASI interfaces
•Scrambling
•Forward Error Correction (FEC)
Also on display at CommunicAsia will be the T-VIPS TVG420, which
handles any MPEG-2 transport stream carrying MPEG-2, MPEG-4 (H.264)
or VC.1 compressed video in SD as well as HD, enabling
market-leading transmission of compressed digital video over IP
networks. Up to 8 DVB ASI transport stream connections, together
with a Gigabit Ethernet interface, give a very compact and cost
effective solution. The TVG420 uses FEC to increase robustness
against network packet loss.
Additionally, the company will be demonstrating T-VIPS Connect, its
management solution that ensures easy operation of complex video
distribution systems. As well as monitoring equipment status, T-VIPS
Connect also checks the health of contribution and distribution
connectivity and service status and simplifies the task of
setting-up and tearing down occasional networks, which is
particularly attractive for broadcasters distributing sports and
news footage.
“T-VIPS has pioneered advanced intelligent video contribution
solutions to enable broadcasters to achieve as efficient and
flexible video contribution as possible,” says Johnny Dolvik, CEO,
T-VIPS. “JPEG2000 compression offers very low latency, high
error-resiliency and excellent picture-quality, and we look forward
to offering a live demonstration of the power of our transport
solutions to visitors to our stand at CommunicAsia, in partnership
with NeraTel, our Singapore-based business partner. The adoption of
JPEG2000 compression offers broadcasters significant cost and
bandwidth savings in the video transport chain. In addition to the
many advantages it provides in editing and post-production, the
business case becomes even more promising for HD transport, where
our solutions help to make 1080p 50/60 a commercial reality today.”
T-VIPS JPEG2000 TVG430 Video Gateway
The TVG430 Video Gateway utilizes JPEG2000 compression to transmit
HDTV (and SD) signals over Gigabit Ethernet links in real-time at
bitrates in the 50Mbps to 200Mbps range. The gateway can be
configured as either an encoder or decoder.
Key features include:
•High quality video using JPEG2000 compression
•Robust transmission of SDI signals
•Very low delay
•Redundancy
•Ancillary data support
•Compact, cost-effective solutions
•User-friendly configuration and control
•The TVG415 is a SD only version, which is easily upgradeable to HD
