UK-Based GDB Gains Exclusive Euro Rights To 1ButtonToWiFi
Brighton, UK -- IPTV maven, Global Digital Broadcast (GDB), prepares
to provide a ‘4-play’ package through its UK network service, PlayTV
UK. This move comes after GDB gains exclusive European rights to a
breakthrough product, 1ButtonToWiFi, which enables VoIP calls from
any telephone handset. |

The PlayTV UK British broadcast network, which has already
incorporated high-definition and digital technologies in order to
offer an IPTV, telephone and broadband triple-play package, now goes
one step further with the inclusion of this patented,
advanced-telephony service.
Pioneered by Steve Lipman, president of Canada-based WorldTel and
CEO of 1ButtonToWiFi, the product allows any handset to work like a
WiFi telephone, but without the limitations of WiFi per se. The
device enables users to make internet telephone calls from anywhere
in the world, from any telephone handset or device, using voice over
internet protocol (VoIP) technology. WiFi enablement provides access
to an existing high-speed internet connection, meaning that
1ButtonToWiFi also permits significant savings on the cost of long
distance and international calls.
Mr. Lipman explains: “1ButtonToWiFi lets users make high-speed
internet telephone calls, without the need to be anywhere near an
internet connection. You can even use it in a moving vehicle! The
device combines computer chips developed in both Silicon Valley and
Taiwan, in order to produce the ‘digital/analog/digital technology
which makes it all possible.”
He continues: “There are 3.25 billion mobile ‘phones in use, today,
which can all use 1ButtonToWiFi; and this cellular/VoIP market is
virtually untapped. This is the only VoIP product in existence which
joins all these devices, in addition to home telephones and PDAs, to
the internet.”
Showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this
year, 1ButtonToWiFi soon attracted the attention of telephony giants
such as OneTel, Orange and BT; but the European rights contract went
to GDB.
Jim Deans, co-founder and managing director of Global Digital
Broadcast and co-director of PlayTV UK, says: “We met Steve Lipman
at CES and loved the fact that he had achieved something which
others said was ‘impossible’. It reminded me of the very early days
of IPTV, when we were creating something considered ‘impossible’, or
at least, a very long way off. Steve has proven the naysayers wrong,
as we did with IPTV and this is why we just had to add 1ButtonToWiFi
to our services.”
