Latens
February 18, 2008

Belfast, Northern Ireland -- Latens, the market leader in software conditional access and service delivery platforms for Pay-TV operators, announces that Joël Gueugnon and Mike Leigh have joined their senior Business Development team. The appointments further strengthen Latens’ commitment to expansion within broadband cable, IPTV, satellite and digital terrestrial in Europe, the Middle-East and Africa.

Mr. Gueugnon will be based in Paris and brings strategic sales, business development and marketing management expertise across semi-conductors, Pay-TV and IPTV sectors. Before joining the Latens team Joël was driving Intel Corporation Digital Home Networking strategic initiatives with a variety of content producers, operators, platforms and technologies suppliers. Previously he led Thomson Multimedia Components Division sales and marketing worldwide, before contributing to the deployment of NetGem middleware, hybrid set-top boxes and interactive technologies.

Mr. Leigh, based in London, joins Latens from Verimatrix, where he was the Business Development Manager for Northern Europe. Previously, Mike built up considerable experience of Pay-TV and IPTV technology through his position as Head of Business Development and Strategy in the Telecoms Division of LogicaCMG, and as a Vice President at the set-top box company, Amino Communications.

Latens will use Mr. Leigh and Mr. Gueugnon’s extensive business experience to strategically enhance their position in the cable and broadcast markets with Latens CAS and BCAS. Latens CAS is the first DVB® compliant, software based, downloadable Conditional Access system to be successfully deployed with broadband cable operators in Europe. Latens BCAS is a next generation, DVB® compliant Conditional Access System designed for operators of broadcast cable,

satellite and digital terrestrial networks. BCAS is the first software-based solution for networks without an always on return path. Both Latens CAS and BCAS have the key advantages of low cost of ownership, dynamic renewability and proven scalability.

"Latens is a fast growing company with innovative technology and has enjoyed significant success to date with their DVB® compliant cable and IPTV Conditional Access solutions. I look forward to helping the company grow and being even more successful in the broadband and broadcast markets,” says Mike Leigh, Strategic Business Development, Latens.

"I was attracted to Latens by its reputation for technical innovation and excellent customer service,” says Joël Gueugnon, Strategic Business Development, Latens. “I believe that broadband and broadcast Pay-TV operators will increasingly choose Latens’ cost-effective next generation software CA over hardware based solutions and I’ve joined Latens to play a part in this success.”

"I’m delighted to welcome Mike and Joël on board,” says Andy Mathieson, Director, Latens. “Both are great recruits for us, bringing invaluable experience of the Conditional Access and IPTV markets specifically and in Pay-TV in general. 2007 was an extremely successful year for Latens, with continued expansion and a move to bigger premises. 2008 promises even more success and I am certain both Joël and Mike will ensure we achieve this throughout the EMEA region.”
