Dayton, OH -- At the TelcoTV Exhibition in Atlanta, Georgia,
STRATACACHE announced the debut of its new ActiVia for Media IPTV
edition. The show, themed IPTV Beyond the Box, was held in Atlanta
from October 23-26, 2007 at the Georgia World Congress Center.
The ActiVia for Media IPTV edition provides powerful management and
content tools for IP-based TV systems (IPTV). ActiVia for Media IPTV
is capable of scheduling, managing, and controlling large enterprise
IPTV networks of up to 100,000 concurrent devices, including set top
boxes (STBs) and multipurpose PCs and servers used as IPTV stations.
Companies using ActiVia for Media IPTV can control up to 100
independent enterprise live video channels and an unlimited number
of Video-on-Demand (VoD) channels. |

The ActiVia for Media IPTV edition can
also control video channels with multiple independent audio
channels, providing multilingual support for multinational
customers. This multi-channel, multi-language feature gives the
central system administrator the ability to distribute a single,
bandwidth-efficient video layer while specifying which audio layer
applies to a target site or region.
“This solution is ideal for large enterprises converting from
bandwidth inefficient, legacy BTV technology that are seeking to
move their video platform to the more efficient, flexible, and
powerful IP world,” said Chris Riegel, STRATACACHE CEO.
Based on the proven ActiVia 3.2 platform, the IPTV edition is a
fully managed system utilizing advanced IP-based networking. It
works in satellite, WAN, and wireless environments and leverages
STRATACACHE’s award-winning OmniCast content delivery engine for
reliable multicast delivery. The ActiVia for Media solution can
automatically pre-populate video to disk-enabled STBs during
non-peak hours, allowing full on-demand (PVR) content access via
remote branch office users at any time. Additionally, the platform
supports the latest MPEG-4 H.264 and Windows Media codecs for
exceptional video quality at low bandwidth rates.
“Modern enterprise IP networks enable convergence of legacy video
networks onto a common IP fabric with significant cost benefits,”
said Peter Christy, principal analyst of the Internet Research
Group. “Integrated into the computer and data fabric, IPTV is
infinitely more flexible and potentially useful than legacy TV.
STRATACACHE’s solution provides powerful management and content
tools to help enterprises take advantage of the remarkable potential
of IPTV.”
The ActiVia for Media IPTV edition was recently deployed in
partnership with Verizon to a leading U.S. retailer servicing over
2,600 sites and replacing a legacy broadcast BTV system. ActiVia for
Media IPTV edition has been successfully integrated and deployed
with multiple encoding and player platforms, including Envivio and
VBRICK Encoders, Amino STBs, and STRATACACHE Spectra STBs and Media
Players.
