Korean telco KT has chosen NDS to supply content protection
solutions for the launch of its IPTV service Mega TV.
The service, which is initially only available via video-on-demand,
has now been rolled out in Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan
area, and will be extended shortly to Gwa-Cheon, Dong-Tan and other
selected services in Kyung-Ki province. Under the agreement, NDS
VideoGuard conditional access will be deployed throughout KT’s IPTV
network to provide end-to-end content protection. |

“NDS is proud to be working with
Korea’s leading fixed line telephony and broadband provider,”
commented Sue Taylor, Vice President and General Manager of NDS Asia
Pacific. “The launch of Mega TV is the start of a comprehensive
strategy to offer VOD and iTV services that will eventually
capitalise on the substantial network investment to offer full IPTV
services, subject to regulatory approval.”
VideoGuard facilitates a range of pay TV business models, such as
multiple channel packages, tiering, pay-per-view purchase of
programs from the electronic programme guide (EPG), impulse
pay-per-view and other services that help the operator to maximise
viewer choice. |
