Latens’ CAS, IPCAS and FCAS all Integrated with ADB 3800 and 5800 series set-top boxes

Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK -- Latens, Europe’s leading provider of software security solutions for Pay-TV & IPTV, and ADB, a leading supplier of digital TV systems and software solutions for interactive television, today announce that the companies have integrated Latens CA systems with ADB set-top boxes. The integration of Latens CAS, Latens FCAS and Latens IPCAS with ADB’s 3800 and 5800 advanced set-top box ranges has been carried out to widen IPTV and cable operators’ choice and provide increased flexibility and functionality.

“I’m pleased to have integrated with ADB, one of the world’s most blue-chip set-top box vendors. The integration means that all cable and IPTV operators can now combine Latens CA with an advanced set-top box from the ADB 3800 and 5800 ranges, to provide consumers with advanced interactive services,” says Andy Mathieson, Director, Latens Systems.

“The integration of our CA systems with the new ADB-3800 and 5800 set-top boxes ran very smoothly and I know that this joint solution will be highly attractive,” concluded Mathieson.

“The integration with Latens provides a cost-effective and powerful secured set-top box environment for all IPTV and cable operators,” says Philippe Lambinet, CEO, ADB. “Operators choosing a Latens protected ADB set-top boxes obtain a solution that is highly secure, feature rich and available in the sort of volumes required for commercial rollouts.”

The ADB-3800 and 5800 series comprises interactive, digital set-top boxes that incorporate Advanced Video Encoding and high definition television reception with support for MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. Both set-top box solutions provide cable and IPTV platform owners with a cost-effective solution for delivering a wealth of advanced interactive television services into the home.

Latens provides CA in four variants; Latens CAS, for large-scale operations; Latens IPCAS, optimized for large-scale IPTV platforms; Latens FCAS, which provides cost-effective ‘no compromise’ CA for smaller IPTV networks; and Latens BCAS, for one-way broadcast networks. Latens CA systems are next generation, standards compliant conditional access systems utilizing software-based CA solutions.

Latens CAS is differentiated from legacy CA systems by the following key features:
  • Latens CAS is a pure software solution which replaces the proprietary smart cards or embedded set top solutions of traditional CAS vendors with a downloadable CAS system utilizing innovative Secure Software Modules. This provides a more dynamic, secure anti-piracy strategy at a much lower cost.
  • The use of open standards and downloadable CA software ensures that the operator is no longer locked into one CA supplier and can make the best choices for their business now and in the future.
  • Latens CAS is commercially and technically scalable from systems comprising hundreds of subscribers to large multi-million subscriber deployments.
  • Latens CAS is a technically advanced solution that is already deployed and providing operators with unsurpassed levels of security and flexibility. The system has been designed to maximize the revenues earned and retained by the operator.
