Bredbånd to Deploy Latens FCAS Conditional Access to Secure IPTV
Services
November 29, 2006
Latens extends lead in Nordic Content & Revenue Protection market
with new contract win
Latens Systems, the leading provider of IPTV Conditional Access,
today announces that it has been awarded a contract to provide
Latens Foundation CAS (FCAS) Content & Revenue Security to Salten
Bredbånd, the Norwegian IPTV operator. FCAS will protect the Salten
Bredbånd IPTV service, which presently includes 35 IPTV channels and
Video on Demand and Program on Demand content services. |
“The fact that Latens
is no 1. for content security for the Nordic region as well as the
rest of Europe, means that the company already understands how we
operate and has the infrastructure in place to offer us the support
that we need,” says Frank Nyrud, System Manager, Salten Bredbånd.
“An additional and important advantage of deploying Latens FCAS is
that we can scale to many more subscribers without upgrading our CA
system.”
Latens will integrate FCAS with Salten Bredbånd’s existing IPTV
system, which includes Kreatel set-top-boxes and a TANDBERG
Television IPTV headend. The Latens FCAS solution provides Salten
Bredbånd with a simplified but secure CA solution without reducing
the future functionality of its Content and Revenue Protection
system. Upon deployment, FCAS will secure Salten Bredbånd’s Pay-TV
and Video On Demand services, which are already enjoyed by around
3,000 consumers.
“Our support for open standards means that we will find it easier
than many vendors to secure Salten Bredbånd’s existing customer base
and IPTV infrastructure,” says Andy Mathieson, Director, Latens. “In
addition, our FCAS system offers the ‘no compromise’ security at an
affordable cost that this customer needs.”
Latens FCAS features include:
- "No compromise" security -
Latens FCAS is built with the Latens dynamic security system that
has already been accepted by the world's top content owners
- Low start up costs match low
start up revenues
- The scale and features provided
by Latens FCAS can be progressively upgraded as an operator's
business develops. The purchaser therefore has an assured upgrade
path without disruption to existing services.
- FCAS is simple to install and
support, making it ideal for sale by local system integrators as
part of an end-to-end system, further cutting the overall cost of
delivery
- Latens FCAS allows an operator
to select only the conditional access components which are
necessary for their business, eliminating the cost and complexity
of unwanted features.
